Vacancy for a full-time Packer £7ph gross • Mon-Fri • Weekend overtime available IMMEDIATE START AVAILABLE eshopdeals4u has a vacancy for a packer. This is a FULL-TIME permanent position. The right candidate will be motivated, able to work off their own steam, able to solve problems and improve processes. You will have a reasonable level of physical fitness and will be able to cope with unloading a large delivery including heavy items (usually no more than 30kg) alongside your main duties of packing anything up to 100 items a day at the time of writing. The number of items we sell is increasing all the time and the packing workload is expected to increase also. You will also need to have good numeracy and literacy skills in order to process the paperwork associated with the packing duties. Some warehouse duties will involve climbing a ladder. Other duties will include overseeing daily parcel collections by Royal Mail and ParcelForce; receiving and unloading deliveries from suppliers; and driving out to suppliers to collect stock, mostly in Greater London (estate car supplied; you will need to be able to drive a Transit size van in future). You will need a driving licence and it is a necessary part of the recruitment process that you disclose all endorsements on your licence, and details of any accidents and insurance claims within the past three years. Initially you will be working from a beautifully appointed garage at the business owner's home, which is equipped with acres of shelving, a packing table, a kettle, a heater and a radio. This arrangement is not as good as a proper warehouse but it has worked well for the past 12 months and is now temporary pending the planned move to business premises. Owing to this forthcoming move to business premises, it is necessary that you are prepared to travel to these premises which will most likely be located in Stevenage, Hitchin, Baldock or similar NEARBY area. Summary of duties: • Packing items for posting with suitable protection against damage in transit; • Preparing items in readiness for collection by Royal Mail and ParcelForce, and overseeing collections; • Completing any administration associated with receiving or despatching goods, which includes calculating total/average weight of consignments; • Keeping the stores tidy and organised; • Driving out to suppliers to collect stock; • Unloading carton or palletised deliveries and placing items in store; • Handling other related duties. Skills and aptitudes: • Organised, efficient and hard working with a "can do" attitude; • Able to work independently and solve problems; • Hold a full driving licence and be prepared to drive an estate car and van; • Good literacy and numeracy skills; • Good level of physical fitness and capability to lift heavy items; • Ability to use computers an advantage.
